So let’s talk about Pocket PC Addict

Well, I am happy to say Pocketpcaddict.com is finally coming along nicely. Due to some of the headaches mentioned earlier, I’ve moved the server and transferred domains to a new area code. Moving a site of this size has often felt like steering the Titanic away from an iceberg. During file moves, I froze more than one FTP client in the process. Almost echoing my feelings on the matter, Filezilla FTP seems to have said “Enough!!” and refuses to launch on my machine! What a big baby…ok go ahead, quit! LOL

People who actually accessed the site yesterday, before I put up a redirect probably saw what a mess there is. There is obviously much cleanup to do. Alot of the data in the backups was good, alot not so good. There were some tough decisions to be made, but it looks like content is good until about the middle of this month (fingers crossed). Images over the last month or two may or may not be there.

That’s the bad news. Now here’s the good news, this nightmare has provided an opportunity to work more closely with Raven who you PHP guys and gals will probably recognize as one of the best scripters/security guys out there. I’ve been a member of his security site for a year or so and always found his PHP advice to be right on the mark. During this trying time, he’s been great to work with, very helpful and a nice guy to boot! Since I don’t have the time right now to hunt and peck through all of the PHP/SQL bugs, he’s offered to do it. Whew! What a relief!

So that’s about where I am right now early on a Thursday morning. Feeling less bad about the recent past, but very optimistic about the near future.
