When Half and Half is better than none and none
Posted under MotivationNo, half and half isn’t just for coffee anymore. What am I talking about? Scaling up to vigorous exercise. I posted yesterday about how our donation to the community ended up not quite as planned. We ended up at a high school, basically in the middle of nowhere. What they did have was football field with a running track around it.
So I took the opportunity to get the kids out there to do some run - walk training. That is where you “break the ice” into running/jogging by walking half the time and running half the time. This is very easy on a running track since there are yard and distance markers. I could even handle the pace since it was quite obvious where the end was each time.
The kids loved it too. Such boundless energy kids have, my son was indicating he wanted to continue. But he stayed to the walk - run pattern possibly to spare my feelings, possibly because running isn’t all that fun. Anyway, I felt much better afterwards.
