I took a few minutes this morning to try the Pocketmod paper folding mini PDA experiment from the other day. It took about two minutes to print it up and figure out how to fold it. I noticed that the pocketmod reminded me a lot of little date-books I used to purchase years ago to keep in my back pocket. I would keep little notes in the date book each day so that I would have a small journal that I could put away for later reference. When folded, Pocketmod ends up being about eight pages long, which is a little bit short for a journal. However, what it might be good for is a small project. You could keep a small idea file using pocket mod to get your ideas down and have them handy in your back pocket or in a purse.
The folding is a bit tricky, so I recommend you look at the flash demonstration which is a small video showing how to do it. It took me a try or two get it right. Also, the paper seems to be a little bit long on certain edges so you’ll need to have a pair of scissors handy to cut the edges. Otherwise, it ends up being a nice little booklet and you don’t even need to have a stapler handy!
