jkOnTheRun reviews RocketPost blog editor
Posted under UncategorizedFor me, I find blogging from my web browser works good enough for my tastes. I don’t know what could be easier, unless I used some sort of voice-to-text capplication - oh wait. I use NaturallySpeaking, so I guess that’s covered already anyway. ;0) Still, “blogging tools” are an interest and jkOnTheRun has put one through the ringer to see how well it works for everyday blogging activities. This one will set you back $149 though…WOAH!

A good blog editor is one of the most useful tools a blogger can use if it is a good one. The ability to create blog posts offline is a good thing but if the offline editor has some additional utility integrated then the experience is awesome. I have used BlogJet for a long time and even wrote about it here on jkOnTheRun. A few weeks ago the developer for a new blog editor, RocketPost, contacted me and asked me to give the program a fair shake, and this review is the result.

Thanks for linking. RocketPost is designed for people who blog a lot– it’s a full productivity app, not a simple front end ;) (Disclaimer: I designed it.)
If you wouldn’t mind, could you describe how it is a full productivity app? Maybe you could give me a “day in the life” scenario on how it would make one more productive? I see a long list of features there, but not sure I see where the productivity boost comes in.
Thanks
Just a few examples–
- Copy a URL, select text, press Ctrl+J to link it, no dialog. I use this one a hundred times a day.
- Ctrl+M to insert a photo, click Medium size and Right-align buttons, click OK. Photo is resized and aligned without launching Photoshop.
- Copy text in your browser, copy the URL, in RocketPost press Ctrl+Q. Quote is autoformatted with “…” between quotes and the source [Link] at the end.
- Select text you want to link and Insert/Hyperlink. It shows you all previous posts which mention that search term. Click one and click OK to link to your previous post.
- Alternately, search in the search toolbar for an older post, select it and press Y to copY the permalink. In your post, select text and press Ctrl+J to link it.
- Single-key shortcuts in many places (N for New, etc.) are faster than Ctrl keys.
- And, of course, built-in photo upload and spell check.
