Spam — The tide is turning

Posted under Web/Tech

This is good news…hopefully. The FTC has a report indicating a decrease in spam from the perspecitve of the number of successful blocks. I still get lots of spam, but tend to block it on my end with filters. I do notice that the sheer nastiness (desparation perhaps?) of the spam has increased. I hope it can be done away with once and for all.

The FTC released a report yesterday from a research project they did on the amount of spam being received today, and the amount of it that is being effectively blocked. The results are encouraging. There’s still an awful lot of email spam, but filtering is working. The study also shows that “masking” your email address if you post it on the Web is super helpful in preventing it from beign harvested.
