Choose Optimism
Posted under Achieve-IT!I just finished reading Rich Devos great post on the importance of optimism. Even though I’d guess most of us reading this blog are optimists, it’s still very important to get the reinforcement to continue the positive outlook. The world can be so negative. Sometimes it can get you down. It’s great to have other optimists around to keep us on track.
I remember as a young adult, spending time actually working on my optimism - using self talk, to hone a better attitude about my life and what was possible. So I wasn’t born optimistic. Nope, not at all.
I am still very optimistic, even to the point of annoying many people who see life as a great big hassle. But after reading I am reminded it’s still a good idea to keep making the right choice. We can all use that reminder once in awhile.
An optimistic attitude is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. The way you look at life will determine how you feel, how you perform, and how well you will get along with other people. Conversely, negative thoughts, attitudes, and expectations feed on themselves; they become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Pessimism creates a dismal place where no one wants to live.
Give it a read, you’ll be happy you did.

I give myself permission to feel as negative as I like - as long as every single actual action I take is positive and a step in the direction of my desired outcomes. the opposite is definitely not permissible! no negative actions allowed - and indeed a price is extracted for negative thoughts i.e. I require MORE positive action from myself if I indulge in negative thoughts.
