Christmas 2005 in NC: 60Ëš & Remembering the Blizzard of ‘78
Posted under Thoughts
I just took a peek at the weather forcast for today. 60 degrees! This is like a great Christmas gift a day early. Forget the white Christmas, I like em warm. Preferably sunny and warm.
I guess I started disliking the cold and snow having been in Indianapolis during the blizzard of ‘78. You know how a kid wishes for a snow day or two? We had something like 2 months of snow days! We were locked in a small apartment all day and night watching I Love Lucy reruns on our black and white TV. My younger sister and I irritated each other to no end. And we also had to witness quite a bit of let’s say unsavory activities from our neighbors.
There were stories passed around and on the daytime news about how someone had gone to work but never returned home. I remember twice, my Mother got stranded across town and had to stay the night at her office, leaving my sister and me on our own overnight.
Sure snow can be pretty. And I can still enjoy it in small quantities. But I’ll take a sunny and warm day anytime.
Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope your weather is exactly the way you’d like it to be!
By the way, if you were hit by the blizzard of 1978, I’d be interested to know how you were affected by it
