ActiveWords Overview
Posted under ProductivityAs I mentioned last year
, I am trying Activewords on my PC. So far, it’s proven pretty helpful for replacing commonly used text, getting around Typepad’s busy interface, and navigating to websites and sub-webs I travel to every day. Since I am trying to get as much out of the program as possible, this post over at JKontherun caught my eye. James has dug up a link to a great beginners guide to using Activewords and getting the most of it.
From Student Tablet PC,
As Marc Orchant says, activewords is one of those applications that makes your computer smarter. Anything you can accomplish with a keyboard on your computer you can accomplish with activeword.
Additionally, ActiveWords is context insensitive. You can use ActiveWords in any application; you can use it in DOS, on the web, in your word processor, in excel, wherever.

P.S. does anyone know how to use an Activeword to add a new Activeword?

Use the activeword “add” to add an activeword.
You need to install the AWControls application first:

ahhh..thanks. That was the missing component. works now.
Also, try this…
Here is one simple tweak that will help a lot:
Right click on the ActiveWords monitor, go to options, go to confirmation options, and then enable the spacebar/spacebar box at the top 1/3 of screen.
This way you don’t have to reach for the F8 key, and can just use the space bar to trigger ActiveWords.
Let me know if you have any questions/comments about ActiveWords and I will do my best to get you answers.
Also, let me know if you think having a guided tour would enhance your understanding of ActiveWords.

really I like the fact I can simply type an activeword without having to be in a textbox or anything. I type most of them into nothing at all. Just type out the word on the keyboard and hit F8..works like a charm for me.
