See Better – Loosen That Necktie

by Brad Isaac on March 22, 2006

Guys…did you know that power tie may be affecting your vision?  According to Robert Ritch, M.D. "Wearing a tight necktie day in and day out, especially for men with thick necks, raises pressure in the eyes, and this increased pressure could lead to glaucoma. It also could increase the amount of damage being done to the eyes of people who already have glaucoma."

Aside from the vision hit, there’s also the distraction of feeling like you are choking all day long.  For that reason, I only buy the type of shirt that has an elastic top button that stretches and provides breathing room.  If my shirt doesn’t have that feature, I leave the top button unbuttoned.  The recommended tightness allows for two fingers of space between your neck and the shirt.

So if you want to see and think better…Loosen that power tie mister!
