Achieve-IT! Desktop Beta
Posted under Achieve-IT!Well, I am pleased to present Achieve-IT! Beta 1 Release Candidate. This is the desktop version of my Pocket PC Goal Setting Software.
A few thoughts:
I was thrown a curve ball. I had a build that was working the way I wanted yesterday, but when I deployed it into the installer, it disappeared (April Fools on me I guess). So instead of driving into my office today, I went ahead and used the next stable build. So you may encounter a bug or two.
The two most annoying bugs I’ve found is when you hit the "Home" button, it displays the beta expiration message
. I fixed that yesterday - I know I did! The second bug happens if you set a goal in the vision module, then hit the Home button and then click the goal. It will likely freeze the application - I fixed that one too.
The workaround for the second bug is to go to the Refine module and set benefits and pitfalls for each goal.
How to use:
Here’s the user manual for the Pocket PC version of the program. Since the framework of A.I. desktop and Pocket PC are similar, you should be able to catch on to how to use the program.
A few notes before I provide the download link:
- I disabled some of the features that aren’t quite up to speed while I fix them.
- Printing needs some fine tuning
- If you want to move a goal from one category to another, it’s flaking out on me right now - another one of those things that may or may not work for you.
- Syncing is coming!
Again, this version isn’t quite what I wanted to release for my self-imposed deadline. But I think it’s important to get something out there.
So without further ado…here you go!
Download AchieveITDesktop.exe (612.9K)
Update: I forgot to mention you need the .NET Framework installed for this to work on your Windows Desktop PC. You can download here: .NET Framework

Brad,
Thank you very much for making your software available. A great job.
A quick question, did anyone report back with inability to type or ink in any of the fields –”Vision”, “Manage”, “Refine”, “Plan”, “Define”?
Is there an activation of some sort somewhere that I need to do to enable typing in text or inking?
Thanks again,
John
John,
I haven’t heard of that yet. Are you using a tablet PC? That could be a computer specific issue I haven’t seen yet. Also I neglected to put the requirements of .NET framework be installed first. You can get the installer here: .NET Framework
Could be you don’t have that installed? please let me know.
Brad,
Thank you for the reply. Yes, I am using a Tablet PC and yes, it was the .NET framework that I needed. Things are working great now.
Again, thank you for the great little software. Keep up the great work.
Regards,
John
Hi Brad,
Love the software - fixing those things you mention above would make it better!
Any way to import the goals I set up with the handheld version? I see you are still working on the synch part …
Rod
Hi and thanks for making your software available. It sounds exactly what I’m looking for but after downloading the desktop beta from your link above it won’t install and suggests I come back here to get an up to date version! Help please.Thank you. Jo
Hi Jo,
I think that’s a regional issue. I’ve posted a fix for it here
Please let me know if that fixes it. :)
The fix has worked just fine for me.Thanks again!
Jo
I already use A.I on my PPC. Is there a way to use the SDF file with the desktop version, so I won’t need to have two versions of my goals?
Thanks, Uri
Uri,
I am building a sync option right now that will allow this. I had originally contracted with another developer to do it (to free me up for other tasks). But that fell through last month, so I am building it myself.
So far my component is syncing from the desktop to the Pocket PC, but not quite in reverse…so the feature is definately on the way, but I want to make sure it’s good since it has the capability to damage data if not deployed properly.
