3 More Allergy Tips for Sufferers

Posted under Lifehacks

2006 is supposed to be one of the worst allergy seasons in years.  And even though you may have tried “nuking your allergies” as per my post last month, you may still be feeling the pain.

A doctor on the radio this morning had 3 tips I hadn’t heard that I wanted to pass on to you.

  1. Take a Shower at Night - the reason for showering at night is to wash the pollen off of your skin and especially out of your hair.  According to him, if you don’t the pollen gets into your bed.  Wash it off and you wake up refreshed.
  2. Avoid Eating Apples, Pears or Hazlenuts during Allergy Season - Tree bearing fruit such as apples react with your normal allergy reaction to double the symptoms.
  3. Wear Sunglasses when you are outside - pollen can enter your system through your eyes so wear sunglasses to block it - especially on windy days.

Everyone should wear sunglasses, not just allergy sufferers. UV rays are as damaging to your eyes as they are to your skin.

You can get some that block pollen and sun from the sides as well as the front. One brand is Fitovers; I’m sure there are others. They’re really good, and fit right over your glasses.
