I certainly hope your friend was joking/teasing, because the dad in LMS isn't portrayed very favorably.

Ha ha! Actually, I don't know him except through this site.

I'll have to check out this movie :)

You can take that comment in a good way as well as a bad way. The dad from Little Miss Sunshine "always had a positive" attitude, that anything is possible. In that way, it's good. The bad, is that the dad is a failure, but the important thing is that he is persistent. Definitely a good movie to watch.

Hey Brad, IMHO based off of the entries I've read, you should take it the good way.

I certainly hope your friend was joking/teasing, because the dad in LMS isn't portrayed very favorably. He has his own self-help philosophy that he tries to put into practice, and he manages to achieve nothing but failure.

The dad is attempting to create his own brand of a personal development program. Everything positive falls into 'one of the twelve steps', while everything negative is contradictory to one. As an example, he tells his daughter, "Hey, don't do that. Never apologize. It's a sign of weakness. That's in step number 5" or something like that. Good flick, though. Check it out.
