Vista’s Service Pack 1 Beta Goes Public and Here’s How To Get It
Posted under Productivity, Web/Tech
Computer users with the Vista operating system installed, might want to install Microsoft’s Service Pack 1 beta. Microsoft decided it’s stable enough that they could release it to the general public.
To get it, all you have to do is download a little script from Microsoft’s site that changes some registry keys for Windows Update. After that, you simply run Windows Update and check for updates. Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate will show up as an option.
I have been testing it today and I think it’s worth doing. It seems more robust than even the last beta - which I thought was pretty darn good.
The benefits I’ve seen so far are an increase in speed, decrease in CPU cycling and my laptop seems to run cooler. Your mileage may vary - especially if you install it on a desktop. :)
