Keeping a journal is very hard. It's all fun and games for the first month but after that it just becomes a chore. And if you stop writing for couple days you're on a slippery slope - there's a high chance that you'll never start again. I know, I've been trying to start and keep a journal many times. I've never lasted more than 2 months.

Hi!
I truly believe, it´s a great idea to record all our memories, but I have some questions:
- Aren´t you scared that people find your diary, how do you handle that?
- Do you write exactly your deeper feelings or do it like some poetry, what about the details you write?
- Do you share it?
Those are the points that I haven´t solved, and that are strenghting me to start a diary...

Wow.. Couple of years ago, I was journalizing about almost everything. I journalize my dreams, my secret desires, my goals, my fantasies etc etc. After reading this, I wanna brush my writing skills.

Yeah. I am gonna start journalizing from today... ;-)

Good for Maurice! I waver on my journaling -- which I'm sure will frustrate me if I make it to 99 and have years worth of gaps. I do, however, use Moleskin =)

I agree! I personally keeping an exercise journal that serves a few purposes:

1) It helps us stay disciplined and in touch with reality.
2) It increases our awareness and understanding of how our body responds to exercise.
3) It helps keep us motivated and interested in our training.
4) It gives us perspective on the whole process; being able to read over the last three months of work (for eg.) gives us a sense of achievement and a realistic (un-emotional) insight into our progress.
5) It helps us stay accountable... and doing what we need to do.

Recently I read it somewhere (self-development) on a website about the same facts mentioned here, thanks for reminding me, I'm ordering for one right away!

Really appreciate for bringing out the benefits of owning and updating a journal in ones life.

Thanks,

Aren't blogs a form of a daily journal? It is the reason I began writing A Week In The Life of A Redhead - to journal my life raising my son, so that he might enjoy it later on. I lost my own father at 18 and have only a few pictures of him. how wonderful it would be to see something written by him.
I've gone on to start 8 Women Dream and have encouraged the women to journal their part of the project, again to create a written history of a time in their lives.
